To The End…

In honor of Remembrance Day, I am reposting my original poem, To The End, from 2011…

Was it in your eyes when you were born;

Or did it develop through the years;

That steely glint of the strength within

Honed sharp as a razor on whetted stone?

Ramrod spine and head held high,

To battle do you march;

Once an infant sweet and soft,

Now a soldier trained to fight.

To land, air, and sea you’re beckoned;

Through sun and rain,

Blood and tears;

The future counted in seconds.

Brave man,

Brave woman,

Brave family left home;

For liberty you stand.

Today we remember;

Red poppies and white crosses;

Victory and losses;

Your courage and honor to the end.

Remember.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ~George Santayana
