Debut Review: IN A FIX

Debut Review: IN A FIX, by Linda Grimes
4 out of 5 Silver Wine Goblets

Move over Janet Evanovich! Linda Grimes’s debut novel, In a Fix, nails it. The funny bone, that is. And the sexy bone (not that one).

Laugh-out-loud funny, In a Fix is an Evanovich-esque romp featuring Ciel Halligan, an aura-adaptor (she can adapt her aura to exactly replicate her clients’ appearance enabling her to tackle their nasty life problems they’re either too afraid, or too disinterested, to handle themselves) whose professional and personal life is complicated—and aroused—by the unwanted, but oh so sexy, interference of two men.

Billy, Ciel’s sort-of cousin and certified best-friend, and Mark, her long time—and so far unrequited—crush, are also aura-adaptors, but only one of them is—officially—CIA. Both take Ciel’s safety seriously. So when her rich client’s vacation condo blows up—almost with her in it—and her client is kidnapped, Billy and Mark rush in and take over, much to Ciel’s frustration. Tempers—and pheromones—flare. Toss in Royal mimicry, CIA skulduggery, modern-day Vikings, a little globe-trotting, a lot of liquid cow effluent and hormones, and you have a recipe for a gut-busting, pulse-pounding, sexually-charged international escapade featuring a stubborn and feisty, trouble-inviting heroine to rival Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum. (Bravo!)

Linda Grimes is a former actress-turned-author with an obsession affection for camels. IN A FIX is her first published novel. Her second in the series, Quick Fix, is due out in August 2013. To learn more about the estimable, generous, and genuinely humorous Linda Grimes, or her books, click here.

  1. You're welcome. And if my Evanovich-esque comparison helps expand your readership, then let it be so–X a gazillion. 😉

  2. You are so sweet!

Evanovichesque? I'll take that any day, especially if it gets me a fraction of her readership. *grin*

Thank you for the great review. 🙂

  3. My pleasure. 🙂
