Deborah Small

Deborah was raised on a hobby farm where her passion for reading, and for all things furred and feathered was indulged. When she wasn’t adopting stray cats and dogs—and the occasional flock of geese, she was riding one of her horses, or was squirreled away in her bedroom with the latest Nancy Drew or Black Stallion adventure. On school breaks, Deborah visited family on the cattle ranch her grandparents carved from British Columbia’s Cariboo-Chilcotin. The rugged experience she gained there imbued her with a deep respect for early settlers, especially her female forebears. Her time on the ranch inspired her to create the fictional Douglas Ranch as a partial setting of her first and second novels: My Dear One and My Own.

Deborah studied Criminal Justice, married twice, and divorced once. A mother of four now fully-independent adults, she lives with her husband, one dog, and two delightful if spoiled cats on acreage in the mountains of Beautiful British Columbia.
